These are my grandcats, my son and his wife’s cats.
“HI DAD!!! Let me show you around my new house! So this is the living room, and over here—”
“Yeah yeah yeah, good job. You bought a house. Where are the cats?”
“Uhhh…upstairs I think?”
“Great. Let me know when dinners ready. I’ll be spending time with my loved ones.”
“…okay…dad…”
But just LOOK AT THEM!
We enjoy and spoil our grandcats more than our own children.

But then I took “grandcats” to mean the children of your cats.
That seems like a likely use of it.
