It goes back to the Broken Windows theory about crime. The Broken Windows Theory in criminology posits that visible signs of crime, antisocial behavior, and civil disorder create an environment that encourages further criminal activity. These visible signs, such as broken windows or graffiti, signal a lack of order and law enforcement, leading to more serious crimes.

So, the more we let these billionaires and radical far-Right extremists keep breaking windows, like what they did on January 6, the more they’ll be encouraged to keep doing it. We (society) are letting them do it without consequences, so there’s no incentive for them to ever stop.

How can we start to clean up the graffiti?

Kind of an honest question. I vote in all elections, attempting to read up on candidates as I make my vote. Choosing one’s that align with my views. I sign petitions in similar fashion.

Stop using X for one and encourage others to leave. If you really don’t want to leave for whatever reason you’d better be jumping in and steering these convos back in the right direction (and get banned I’m sure).

Start with your Brain. You bitch about cleani up graffiti, when you should complain about the endless advertisements. Giant ugly LED billboards, commercials blastingat obscene volume from gas pumps. We pause thisfootball game to let the Blue Angels do a fly over, enlist today. Obey, consume and die. Cradle to Grave. Todays messages was brought to you by Carls Jr.

I hate to say it but voting is the bare minimum.

        • Vote
        • If you can donate to your candidate or choice, do it.
        • if you can’t donate, volunteer.
        • Live in an area where the race is pretty much set due to gerrymandering? Volunteer and donate for other candidates.
        • Don’t have time to volunteer? Write to your editor about your candidate.
        • Don’t want to write? Send dank memes to people on lemmy encouraging them to vote.

Both of the tweets embedded in the article are now missing. Why are journalists still relying on twitter, especially when reporting on deceptive practices by the platform and its chief twit?

The complaint is about misleading voters that they are being registered, not donations to political campaigns or actions committees.

Citizens United equated spending money with free speech, meaning regulations and laws about campaigns don’t really apply. Without Citizens United, the PAC doing this wouldn’t exist and anyone doing this thing would be subject to the campaign laws that Citizens United and the follow up decisions neutered.

To be honest, we need more EVs and NASA needs launch services. Just remove Musk from those companies and let them do their thing without his baggage.

Because musk has enough money and lawyers that he can stretch out any court case until WELL after the election. At which point we are either living in Gilead and musk is being given a commemorative plaque while being deported for being African or the Democrats win and “just want to move on from all this divisiveness”
