Really interesting that the start is basically saying “like the other movies, this probably won’t be well received initially, but years from now will be regarded as a masterpiece”.
So when the reviews or attendances suck, FFC gets to say “ah, but wait!”.
Preempting a poor reception in the actual trailer is wild.
More so when they are cherrypicking bad reviews. Those movies were widely well recieved by audiences and critics and won several awards.
It’s even more bizarre now, knowing that those quotes were completely fabricated.
Like if they were just going to make stuff up they could have gone much farther. “Ebert called the Godfather ‘the biggest piece of shit I ever saw’! And the Conversation? Pauline Kael said it gave her cancer!”
I like that they listed two bad review lines from the same person but just spaced them apart. What the fuck even is this? I know this movie was labeled by some people as unreleasable. But is this pretentious attempt to lean into it really the way to combat things?
I can’t believe people are going to pay money to watch this piece of shit out of curiosity or irony or whatever. And then they’ll wonder why we keep getting shitty movies.
I don’t appreciate that it’s trying to reverse psychology me into liking it.
“You probably wouldn’t get it. This probably isn’t for your sort, let’s be honest.”
Hate to see Jon Voight get work.
Real Mandela effect in action here. I thought Laurence fishburne died years ago. Anyone else?
How long ago did you think? He’s been in all the John Wick movies and they’ve been around since 2014
I think you’re thinking of Nelson Mandela. Classic.
Nelson Mandela was great in John Wick
Francis really sniffing his own farts there in the beginning of the trailer, lol
It’s like an ouroboros of pretentiousness, and I can’t wait to see it!
“This video is private”.
Found an alternate here and it’s kind of brilliant:
Trailer has been taken down because all those negative quotes about The Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Dracula were made up. :(
