So not only will they lose out on $1.5 billion to use towards making their state survive the next 50 years, they will have to pay back $618 million already spent. What kind of sense is that? This is free money that they are not taking plus a shitload of money they have to pay back that was already spent.
And his reasoning is that it will make it harder to fish for oysters and shrimp. You know what makes it harder to fish for oysters and shrimp? Not having any land left to live on.
This is a compounded loss beyond what you described. 3 Billion spent on very localized projects. That’s likely 1 billion in wages paid to workers. That is money that would be spent on other areas of the local economies.
This is actually trickle down economics that works. Spend billions hiring tens of thousands of workers and they will boost the economy they work and live in.
That, and not having anymore oysters or shrimp.
Or having oysters and shrimp that have been marinated in crude oil.
Sounds like a great lawsuit. Just adding to the $3 billion bill by prolonging the inevitable.
