Fossil fuel companies spent millions of dollars getting Trump elected last year; one report from the advocacy group Climate Power puts the total number at $445 million.

the amount of public money the US will now spend on domestic fossil fuels stands at least $34.8 billion a year.

    That’s a good ROI

Carbon capture and storage is the process of capturing CO2 emissions and injecting them deep underground. The oil and gas industry has for decades injected CO2 underground to help recover difficult reserves that don’t respond well to traditional drilling methods. Environmentalists have long argued that the logic of replicating an oil and gas technique as a climate solution is seriously flawed—especially considering that a company could reap a climate tax credit from injecting CO2 that will then be used to create more fossil fuels

      Ohhh, the fuckery

In the original Inflation Reduction Act, which significantly expanded the existing carbon capture tax credit, there was a price differential baked into the tax credits: Producers got more money per ton of CO2 they sequestered underground without any oil production involved, and less for CO2 used specifically to produce more oil and gas. But the One Big Beautiful Bill Act eliminated this differential, allowing producers to collect on the full credit even if they are using CO2 to produce more fossil fuels. The total expansion of tax credits for carbon capture in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, the analysis found, could send out more than $1.4 billion of public money to oil and gas companies each year.

The US has been subsidizing fossil fuel production for more than a century

This country is run by idiots. You’re supposed to tax fossil fuels out of existence, not subsidize them…

There is not a single thing this guy does that is not designed to take money from people who have less than him. He’s only happy if you’re suffering and he is not, because that makes him feel better than you.

        Sure. You first.

DOGE decimated the IRS, sure…but that just means they probably hastily automated a shit-ton of staff, so now next April when shit hits the fan they’ll have automated fines and arrest warrants for whoever they want, combined with no recourse and an overfunded private gestapo ready to come and take you in the night.

Aside from that, wage-slaves like the majority of us in the 99%, our income taxes are a small bit of government income.

You wanna punch them hard? Don’t stop working. Hell earn as much as you can. But stop consuming. Stop spending. Buy as little as you need to survive. Buy used whenever you can.

The “velocity of money” (how quickly and frequently it changes hands) is like one of the biggest indicators of a healthy economy, and nearly every time it moves, the government gets a cut. Every widget you own, every food in the fridge, came from dozens, if not thousands of little money movements. Stop them.

You would think a universal boycott would have more lower/middle-class support than a universal strike. Hell, if we all agree to stop trying to keep up with the Jones’, it’d have a very long lasting effect.

That’s overdramatic and wrong, worst that will happen is you will owe fees, heck not paying taxes almost makes you an honorary Republican.

The problem is that you have to set up a way to shuffle your pay through something else so that it’s not directly reported. That takes money or time and knowledge. Not something most people are going to do.

            That’s overdramatic and wrong

I remember reading a lot of that in 2024. Chucklefuck-in-chief ended up proving most of us right.

I would not doubt for a second he’d be taking tax dodgers and throwing them in the camps. Maybe even make some of them kapos. There’s precedent and he’s already following pretty much the same playbook.

The only part that’s overdramatic is that he’d go through the trouble of filing an arrest warrant. He’s already shown no disregard for shipping off citizens, including children, for the crime of being a couple of shades too dark, and thus, in his words, “poisoning the blood of our country”. Without any due process. So basically anyone is a criminal on his say-so. Already.

Won’t someone think of the poor oil execs and saudi princes? /s

This technology in-between time is so uncomfortable. I feel like we have all this potential but we’re just stuck, it is so disheartening, hopefully we’ll get over it sometime but it’s not looking so promising.
