It would be “okay-ish” if these were just “police camaera”. But the simple truth is they are not just “police cameras”.
The local police departments do not own the hardware or software. These devices are supplied by third party companies that completely own the hardware and software, and we can’t be completely sure how this information is being used or accessed.
These third parties provided access to local law enforcement based on a fee, but other then that the Third-Party has completely autonomy in how they choose to use these cameras, also don’t forget these things have microphones as well.
Also those mobile police cameras you see in Walmart parking lots for example, those are more then likely flock cameras as well.
Spray paint is surprisingly inexpensive. Black spray paint wouldn’t be noticeable from a distance.
They’re usually elevated well out of reach of a person with a spray paint can. We have several notable flock cameras facing public thoroughfares in town. I’d really like to shoot them with paint-balls, though.
I’m thinking a pellet gun would also be effective.

The surveillance system is already in place so it’s already protecting itself. I understand that it’s not that tight everywhere, but it’s pretty hard to tell.
Although the idea of spray painting security cameras seems super punk and badass, they would also just quickly be replaced. Remember these cameras are AI-powered so they undoubtedly can issue some kind of alert if they don’t see anything for too long.
The most effective way to combat this is the boring and much more tedious painful thing that the Trump supporter in the article did. It has to be a coalition with people from both sides that you make in peace, because this is one of the few things that both the far right and the far left get pissed off by, and you have to keep bothering your politicians about it until they do something about it.

Billions per month… in just the US… I’m gonna guess they’re just going with the total amount of scans because the US certainly doesn’t have that many vehicles.
Every car is getting scanned multiple times during their commute. The entire issue is they’re basically surveiling everyone without a warrant, tracking where they go and when, and the police are bypassing the laws designed to prevent exactly this from happening by buying the data from a private company.
