Trump administration must fund SNAP payments during the shutdown, judges rule

Two federal judges ruled nearly simultaneously on Friday that President Donald Trump’s administration must continue to fund SNAP, the nation’s biggest food aid program, using contingency funds during the government shutdown.

It wasn’t immediately clear how quickly the debit cards that beneficiaries use to buy groceries could be reloaded after the ruling. That process often takes one to two weeks.

Pretty much this. It’ll get appealed all the way to the SC, where Thomas will write a decision saying “actually all funding is at the President’s sole discretion” and that’ll be it.

I think even that is being generous. With how eager this court has been to genuflect to him, I’d expect the ruling to be something more akin to “On clear reading, all government power and authority is derived from the Executive exclusively, including that which is graciously and magnanimously extended to all other branches of government.”
