A federal judge ordered agents not to retaliate against people “engaging in peaceful and unobstructive protest activity” in the state and not to stop drivers who are not “forcibly obstructing” officers.
Except they’re already pushing the false narrative that the protestors are paid, organized agitators. As long as anyone is willing to take ICE at their word, this isn’t worth the shit ICE will wipe off their ass with this judge’s order.
Adding: I don’t mean to dismiss this entirely. The judge issuing a court order creates a record and provides some hope of future justice. I do not think it will change ICE’s behavior, but at the least I hope this sets up consequences down the line, or can be used to boost the impeachment (and, dare I dream, criminal prosecution) case against Noem.
