This reminds me of Reddit’s rollout of their “new reddit” interface. When users rejected it, management temporarily backed off, and then boiled the proverbial frogs by rolling it out slowly. In the end, it was still pushed upon people who didn’t want it, and the alternative interface that management promised to keep was gradually modified in subtle ways that made it more invasive.
I don’t imagine this Discord change will be much different.
Too late. Already deleted my account.
Did you switch to anything? There’s a 1000+ person group for my city to support each other and it’s become a ghost town.
Yeah, I’m on Matrix, but not many on there yet. I started a room to support the Industry TV show but no one has joined. That’s ok, it only has to start with 1.
I’ve been playing around with matrix, seems pretty good tbh. Matrix.org for the info, and then joinmatrix.org is a good resource for finding other public instances (homeservers).
I think eventually me and some friends may selfhost
This was a dress rehearsal for real alternatives to get ready.
