Companies break laws all the time. The punishment is frequently small compared to profits from the crime.

I’ve noticed a lot in my feed making that move also. I agree this may end poorly for a lot of good podcasts.
A lot of people are already sick of everything being a subscription based product. I know I pay for too many. There are so many ways to consume media you just move on to the next thing that looks interesting and is free with ads (for now). Podcasting loses listeners, podcasters move on or go free with ads again with a much smaller audience.
People want to support quality media creators, but there’s only so much in the budget. Kinda like you pay for Netflix as entertainment but podcasts are more like radio, something you listen to but could start listening to something else if need be.
I don’t know about every states gun laws or which laws you might be referring to but I feel it’s a safe bet to say that laws that pertain to crimes committed while using a firearm have not been weakened in very many places.
What may have been weakened are laws that restrict law abiding citizens from using firearms lawfully.
The laws are not “weakened” so much as pleaded down to less time or lesser charges. Prosecutors do this to get an easy “win” and clear cases from their dockets. There are a lot of gun laws that I agree with but more that I disagree that they solve any of the current problems. Again, enforce what is already law and leave the good people alone.
Don’t get me wrong, violence is horrible and should be stopped but as a realist I promise that it never will.
But the additional laws take away rights from the law abiding only. The simple solution is to enforce the laws already on the books to the full extent.
These laws only harm the lawful exercising their constitutional rights! Prosecutors will add these on but not to maximize a sentence rather to make it easier to get the bad guy to plead at the cost of not filing on some of the additional charges. Just fully enforce the laws on the books already.
There’s a podcast (Sad Oligarch) that outlines a lot of these “mysterious” deaths in Russia.
Absolutely without doubt. I am male 46 year I have a son (19) and daughter (22). I promise that if I randomly pick a happy moment out of my life it will include my kids, I smile when I think about them and I miss them when now that they are back at school. When I think, well they are now living their own lives now and not around as much, I remember how proud I am of them and what they are accomplishing.
As for me getting Alzheimer’s at 65, my thoughts would be to enjoy my children and hopefully grandchildren till I no longer can function. Then it’s time to “step away”, no need to be living without life. All that life is, memories and future expectations.
As for the kids potentially inheriting it I’d have to say life is a crap shoot but they would have many years to enjoy that life if that were the case. I know they would have the strength to deal with it. After all life is what you make it with a few bonus curve balls and sliders to keep you on your toes.
Another thought on your children dealing with parents falling ill at an advanced age (65 and above?? I guess). They will get over it, it hurts but it’s one of those inevitable things of life that you are hard wired to deal with.
Don’t let a potential future issue rob you of the enjoyment of the present.
And know the sizes of some common items; paper currency, coins, hand, arm, length of stride. You can use these to get a close approximation.
Don’t discount the flashlight so quickly. I avoid an excessive amount of shit in my pockets and it’s always the same. Money clip, knife, truck key, pen, phone and my flashlight. The Flashlight is fairly small, takes a AAA and is slightly bigger than an AA battery with a pocket clip. It gets used multiple times a day. Makes small print in dimly lit areas easier to read also. Honestly for some reason I despise using my phone as a flashlight:)
Then you rewind to a part needing review and end up seeing the damn ads again. Same irrelevant ads that I cannot figure out why they insist on me seeing.
