It might be better to NOT ban them. If I read a post and decide that this is not someone I want to interact with EVER again, I can block them and move on. But, if they get banned and come back with a new name, they pop right back in my feed.
That’s a good point. But then it creates a pretty ugly facade for the network. People who arrive at Lemmy and see a bunch of posts from ghosts that everyone in the know has blocked would create two images of the fediverse. One for people who have curated their experience, and one that is more “raw”
