Can we let them, and then the govt buys the PE for $1 and nationalizes?

I’m kinda tired of the profit motive middle people adding cost and calling it value (e.g., insurance no-ers)

How can a health care provider go broke? That suggests that they don’t make enough money to stay solvent and I find that very hard to believe particularly when they are still attractive to a private equity firm? There’s no way such a firm is going to buy any business unless they think they can make substantial money off of it. This really needs to be thoroughly investigated. Also, Private Equity firms all need to be eliminated. Their sole reason to exist is to allow rich mother fuckers to suck more money from the poorer classes.

Fuck private equity firms in general. They just ruin businesses by squeezing every penny out of them, saddling what remains with huge debt, the sells off the husk that remains.

My brother owns a franchise that started out great, but then the founder retired & sold. Two owners later and now a private equity firm owns it and is trying to squeeze all the franchisees with unrealistic demands. My brother is already working on his exit strategy while trying to avoid declaring bankruptcy.

lemmy.world is already within the global centre-left, which is more than enough to agree that private equity groups buying up doctor’s groups is terrible. Even if that weren’t true, however, to call what you said misleading would be too generous. World blocks grad, which is just a shithole filled to the brim with tankies; it was never worth federating with. Hexbear at a surface level seems more chapo-y than tankie and from that surface-level perspective seems pretty cool, but the lemmy.world post outlining their decision to defederate clearly showed hexbear as an instance whose own stated policy was to have no respect for other instances’ rules as long as it’s in service of advocacy.

As an aside from the nutcase you responded to, this got me thinking, we generally put political ideals on a spectrum going from communism to socialism to fascism (in an extremely oversimplified example.)

This has got to be more of a field than a spectrum, right? Do you or anyone reading this have resources to better illustrate the differences?

Some people separate it into two dimensions, economic left to right and authoritarian to libertarian, based on a model called Political Compass.

it seems like you’re unaware that the lemmy.world does not tolerate leftist viewpoints like yours to the extent that they wholesale de-federate from lemmyverse instances that share leftist viewpoints.

nearly the rest of the lemmyverse will comment on your viewpoint; but don’t expect the same from the lemmy.world
