But the thing about Christmas songs is that there’s only like 10 songs that have each been recorded by like 15 different artists, so while the individual recordings didn’t repeat, we’d still hear the same song 8 times a shift.

Seriously, nothing wrong with the old carols, but people need to write new ones or something. blef.
And people did. There’s tons of new Christmas songs written every year. But they a) don’t catch on, b) are not in the public domain obviously.
