Summary
Donald Trump’s re-election has fueled a surge in misogynistic, homophobic, and racist rhetoric among young men, reportedly emboldened by the president-elect’s history of inflammatory remarks about women.
In schools, boys have been caught using phrases like “your body, my choice” against female peers, prompting districts like Minnesota’s Hopkins Public Schools to issue warnings to parents about harassment.
The impact extends beyond schools, with activists on Texas State University’s campus displaying signs asserting that “women are property.”
This hostile climate has left many women feeling unsafe as a new far-right administration takes power.

Lol… this isn’t real.
No one is walking around, honestly saying that. It’s satire.

Yeah, it’s always a joke until it isn’t. In which case, they are serious as a heart attack about such things…
“it’s just a joke… Unless?”
Except for the part where it actually is.

Take a pick. Stop acting like a disingenuous dipshit.
I’ve lived with someone who came out as an unapologetic white Christian supremacist shortly before moving out. He definitely held these beliefs and cited “the old ways things were”.
Recall, some dispute marital rape as well.
I saw a post from Nick Fuentes about it. Things will get out of hand.
Unrelated, but there was another article that showed up when i scrolled down about the Dems holding the PA House that was really interesting:
"Burns, a conservative anti-abortion Democrat, has drawn the ire of the Pennsylvania GOP for some time now, as his seat was viewed as a vulnerable blue dot in a sea of red. But he was able to maintain his seat thanks to an influx of cash ($3.4 million from the Pennsylvania House Democratic Campaign Committee) and a potent advertising blitz to keep Democrats in control of the state House.
One ad the Burns campaign ran capitalized on his conservative views, stoking anti-immigration based fear and casting Bradley as against Trump’s draconian immigration plans. “President Trump supports secure borders and putting America first. But Amy Bradley doesn’t,” the ad stated menacingly. It was a successful tactic for Burns in his otherwise deep red district."
That’s a sign to me that people aren’t as huge a fan of MAGA as one would believe and the voting base is more fluid. Not saying Dems should shift to anti-immigration / anti-abortion, but locally they should be more strategic about how they play these things. We don’t have to agree with everything a down-ticket Democrat does… if they need to adjust their positions based on local sentiment we should be open to that as long as nationally we know where we stand.
That’s what MAGA did with abortion…nationally oppose it, but claim to “give the choice to the states” to placate local fears. Localized and targeted messaging. If they don’t want student loan forgiveness, don’t run a single ad about student loan forgiveness in that state/county. If they mainly about immigration, make every ad about what the immigration bill would’ve done, that Trump/MAGA blocked it, that “BLOOD IS ON THEIR HANDS” as MAGA would put it.
Don’t give up our overall ideals but start to better recognize that everyone has different priorities and we need to build a popular movement that connects with everyone.
Every and any avenue should be explored.
Very much this. Democrats largely saw big wins for state-wide elections in my state (North Carolina). Yet, Trump took the electors, implying that there were people who voted for Democrats locally but not for Kamala. I know people on this site like to say that MAGA is what America wanted, but I think the support is tentative at best. If a good choice from Democrats emerges, they can definitely sweep.
What do you know. Turns out progress (in corporate hands) brings us back to the 18th century.
Good luck to all the women in gilead. May the lord open or whatever the fuck you say out there.
Under his eye?
Sounds a lot like “we wish all the men just disappeared”, “I would rather be with a bear”, and “they are useless anyway and we dont need them for anything”. I just can’t figure out why men didn’t vote for more of that?
Equalization often feels like oppression to the dominant group that’s been favored and catered to in society’s history. Like Christians being upset over secular public institutions, or some white Americans thinking they were the victims when Jim Crow laws were overturned.
From a fellow dude…let it go.
Um, but even if that were true, how is donnie going to change the minds of millions of women? I swear, some people seem to think he has a magic wand or something. Like he’s going to somehow set up every incel with a bombshell that’s so very into him…

Lol. It still doesn’t change the reality of the election. Large groups of the electorate voted against your party when you offered no incentive to inspire their vote. Instead of admitting that reality you call them names or insult their intelligence.
Rapist apologia? I never thought I’d see the day.
Did the aids from your username get into your writing nerves?
Yes, it’s the victims of harassment who are really at fault here.
Fuck off.
I’m a man, and I voted against the fascists.
Because I’m not a fragile moron who thinks Daddy Trump will make women be nice to me.
^ So much this. I wish I could upvote more than once. :)

LPT: I’m not opening this shit. I’m holding my family close. I’m gonna work my job. I’m gonna exercise and get sleep. I’m gonna stay healthy. I’m gonna vote in 4 years for a better president.
But I’m not going to turn my guts into knots over shit I cannot change. I’m not going to let the noise bury me.
Next election is in two years. Don’t forget midterms. Make sure you’re informed about local elections too. They can make more of a difference to you, and they also get people into positions they can move upward from.
Great reminder. Always tracking state and local.
I just can’t allow myself to fall into paralysis over “who” our country actually is. THIS. This is who our country actually is.
I’m gonna vote in 4 years for a better president.
Just like they vote against putin and orban.
Dark.
Let’s hope the system holds well enough to oust.
That is assuming he doesn’t declare himself king, and there is still a vote.
There is NOTHING he can break the we cannot fix! NOTHING!
The barrage of he is a dictator, know it, expect it news is beating the rest into complacency.
I know that preserving my health can be seen as complacency.
I faced down federal troops that were sent to our city after George Floyd — and I felt like a patriot for doing it.
When another George Floyd happens, I will hear about it. And I will be there in the fires.
Be sure not to forget to vote in two years for House and senate.
And every single local and state level election.
Voting won’t save us. Not trying to throw a wrench in your plans to stay healthy and happy. But true mutual aid is what is most necessary now. Voting is what got us into this mess. Incrementalist politics will not save the climate, will not save us from fascism.
It’s the hard truth that the ownership class has brought to our lives. It’s the logical outcome of capitalism. This is sort of the endgame. We fight now. Relying on voting alone only enables more of the same. We’ve been trying to vote as long as the system has been around. And it’s led us here.
This is sort of the endgame. We fight now.
What’s your plan to overthrow the government, in practical terms? How many casualties are acceptable? Do you even have a plan? Or are you just trying to vent?
It’s not about overthrowing the government. Local action to protect vulnerable peoples, mutual aid. The US Govt can’t be “overthrown.” But local enacting of harmful policies can be stopped.
That’s kinda the problem with the US. People can’t just all travel to the centrally located capital. Look at how the republicans have continually tried to “send it back to the states” where they can wash their hands of, say, outlawing abortion. Focus on your area, find mutual aid groups to support those being harmed by these laws. That is how you can effectively fight creeping fascism. They can put down one centrally located demonstration no problem. But they would have a much harder time fighting every town. (Psst This is also good advice in your own town. Spread out, and be more effective. Move around, don’t stay all together. Not when you’re acting, and not when you’re fleeing)

Depends, are you a cop?
No; definitely wary of those who advocate for armed insurgency against governments without a plan, exit strategy, and explicitly outlined intent for governance if successful.
I don’t disagree that it’d be a good idea, but also I don’t think any revolution has had this. The US, for example, didn’t have The Articles of Confederation finalized until November of 1777. The Declaration of Independence, as I’m sure we know, was signed on July 4, 1776. They didn’t have things ironed out for more than a year, and that version failed horribly.
If we need a revolution, we shouldn’t let having specifics nailed down be a requirement. It’s nice to have, and should be considered, but I don’t think I know of a revolution that has done so ever.

Sorry but that’s bullshit and is harmful.
Voting is quintessential to getting us out of this mess and trying to downplay the power of voting is only beneficial to those currently in power.
There are many actions to take beyond voting, but there is one very specific reason trump is president right now: his people voted.
Fascism is taking over and people are saying that they are planning to do nothing and let evil triumph. If you intend to sit on your ass for the next 4 years, you’re in the way of progress.
Its the will of the people my friend. Americ a isnt the good boy you think it to be.
Voting is most likely still part of they way forward. Most of your comment is true, but as long as we have a democracy we have to vote.
Not voting is what got us into this. Harris turnout was lower than Biden’s. Trump turnout was about the same as last time. Don’t ever tell people not to vote. It’s too easy to for us not to take advantage of it.
Maga is not sending their best. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.
You and MAGA have very different definitions of best, crime, and rape.
They’re absolutely sending their best.
The problem is what they’re best at is being Maga assholes.
I think op’'s comment was a dig at Trump’s anti-immigration stance. He often said the same thing except substitute the word immigrants.
Eventually I will be divorced but I can’t exactly cash out my half of the equity in the home without making her homeless. If she’s still my property anyone I’ll take $80k, no warranty, sales final. Comes with free baggage and would make a great drill instructor. Low mileage, but unreliable and untrustworthy. Pretty to look at though.

Get off of social media. I may even destroy this account. Fuck the Internet.
Wow, the guy who bragged about how he sexually assaults anyone he finds attractive, talked about how he had the same “on the younger side” tastes as his best friend Jeff, talked about how he liked hosting beauty pageants because it gave him an excuse to walk in on girls while they were changing, etc emboldened other people to act the same way? Utter shock. This could never have been anticipated
Expect this to escalate to really bad levels. Not just by women getting raped, but those awful men getting “what they deserve”, which will lead to further escalations. All because of they wanted what those stupid Coca-Cola and gas stove ads depicted.
Cue restrictions on the freedom of movement of women. To “protect” them, of course.
Weren’t the Gilead states [1] already doing measures like that under Biden? I thought people (sheriffs, deputies, “concerned” citizens) were watching certain roads that led to free states like Colorado.
[1] I still chuckle at a certain poster on Denver Post forums that would whine every single time I used that phrase, claiming there was no such thing. I’d ask him if he didn’t think his own con movement and Republican Party weren’t striving for exactly that kind of treatment. He never had an answer of course. But he’d go whining to the mods about it and how unfair it was to point out their own agenda.
“whether they like it or not”
Dude literally said he was gonna “protect” women whether they liked it or not. I took him at his word, but clearly a lot of women didn’t.
Clearly a lot of men heard what he really meant by that and liked it.
I mean… yes and no. Pretty much exactly the same voted for Trump this time compared to last time. 11 million less people voted for Harris compared to Biden in 2020. This was a lot of things, but it was much less of a GOP victory than it was a DNC loss. Once again: world fucking champions at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
But Biden is a man. I wonder how many of the 11 million opted out for just that difference alone. Hard to ever know, I guess.
Back when Hilary was running, I was involved in a political discussion with the two older guys I was on the job with. One man said to the other, why do you think she can’t be a good president? The other man yelled “She’s a goddamn woman!”
These people exist in numbers.
Yep. It is all too common. What is really weird is how many women I heard give really stupid reasons not to vote for Hillary - and then voted third party or actually for diaper donnie.
It’s not just men that believe this either. Internalised misogyny is still a thing, unfortunately.
Yeah, that’s the other thing that baffles me. Like, don’t get me wrong - I wish it wasn’t the case, but the American electorate is clearly racist and sexist. So what does the DNC do? Nominate (or really, designate) a non-white lady. 🤦♂️
I totally get this. I wonder if they will be this fucking stupid the next time around, assuming we still have elections.
When Biden was not stepping down at first, I was like, well, we are fucked. Then he selected her and I thought the same. Then she came out of the gate and it was like the dawning of a new day, especially when she picked Walz and my hopes went up. Then they started hemming Walz in, and she started tacking to the right?
For real they should have just straight up picked Walz as the nominee. He was WAY better at connecting with normal people than Harris was. And he was a white dude, which in America, translates to “a viable candidate”.
Also, I’m afraid this is not just a “spike”, per se, but more like a prelude to much worse, including not just threats.
Your kids will be fine as long as they join the Trump youth
Remember that 53% of white women voted for this.
They voted for them and all women to be considered property.
Unfortunately no one hates women more than other women.
Article filled with examples of men expressing hatred and misogyny towards women
“Ayup, no one hates women more than other women!”
You still can’t deny that women do hate women here.
53 percent of women hate women with that additional 10 percent of young women that voted to hate women.
I mean I’m willing to give women as a whole a quarter as a condolence prize since they played themselves.
Sorry not allowed to acknowledge the fault of any woman, it’s all men’s fault in the end. /s

Where is oversimplification going to lead us one day?
Oh, it’s 2024, never mind then
as i just said in another comment, it scares me to see this shit AGAIN.
this narrative is not making women any safer!
Yeah, the truth certainly doesn’t make women safer.
You really should talk to other white women about that.
which truth is that, that no one hates women like other women?
look at the current climate, i see a lot of woman-hating from all sides, including supposed allies on the left looking for a scapegoat. the oversimplified victim-blaming of dumping our president-elect at the feet of women (again) demonstrates very little understanding of gendered power dynamics and very little effort to build coalition.
to this i would add the threads blaming racial and ethnic minorities, the poor, and the poorly educated.
do you want less suffering in the world, or are you no better than the right in looking for someone to blame, and someone whose suffering you can enjoy because, “they asked for it, they voted for it, they deserve it?”
The truth is 53 percent of white women including 10 percent increase of young white women voted for the behavior. Behavior mind you were say on full force since 2016 and white women voted for again.
As for me, when I being a minority, when I voted for Harris, knowing full well who Trump and company, was looking to my back, didn’t expect 53 percent of white women of stabbing me and other women in the back. And seeing as white women voted for more suffering so I’m going to enjoy the schadenfreude because I’m sure as hell tired of trying to bail the country out from the stupidity of Americans in general. If that makes me as bad as the right, I’m okay with that, at least I voted to not enable this behavior, unlike 53 percent of white women who literally voted for this behavior.
White women need to get there shit in order so fix your own shit before you get all huffy with everyone else who are tired of trying to save you from yourselves.
Again, you should talk to other white women about that.
Inaccurate. 53% of white women who voted voted for this. A lot sat out and let it happen.
Or were pushed away by voter suppression and hopelessness…
College-educated white women backed Harris. All college-educated groups did. Maybe Democrats should work on making college more affordable, and accessible to women with small children. Frankly we should anyway. We should also start helping girls that get pregnant in high school finish with their diploma so college will be an option in their future. Especially since more of them are going to be forced to carry the pregnancy to term.
No, democrats need to adjust their messages to people without a college education.
One of the things that makes Trump so popular is that he panders to people without much education.
A better-educated public is a net gain regardless who’s running the government.
Better educated women are less trapped in abusive relationships, although it still happens, because they have better job prospects and better chance to get law on their side.
Maybe Democrats should work on making college more affordable
Why do you think the wingers reacted so much to having loan forgiveness? Anything that educates more people is something they fear. Having people not being saddled with crippling debts after school only sends a message to others that maybe education is a path for them. The wingers don’t want an educated citizenry.
No, the gop has weaponized anti-intelectualism. The reds won’t vote for a candidate that wants to make college affordable.
Indeed. The qons will call anyone with a degree an “elitist” [1], meanwhile, give the likes of Elon and the convicted felon, who are actual elitists, reacharounds. It’s almost as if actual meanings of words mean nothing to them.
[1] This does not apply to their own kind, even if they were born rich AF and went to Ivy League school(s).
No? What do you mean? You agree with him.
I see you don’t like “right wing” any more than I do, because I think they justify their actions by thinking “we must be right, we’re the right wing.” So I call them the Wrong Wing.
Or sometimes the Human-Rights-Destroying Wing.
Reich wing.
That definitely works too
The DoE is already under attack. It’s part of Project 2025, and they’re laying the groundwork for it already. They’re going to work hard to ensure education is difficult to access and/or neutralized as much as possible.
We thought we could bargain with and persuade “conservatives”. They voted for this, they are okay with women dying in hospitals because the doctors can’t legally intervene. The supposed “Pro Life” party. I wasn’t okay with abortion early in my male, hetero, American, white, life but now I see. They are only pro-fetus. Once a child is born, Republicans don’t care if they starve, if they have access to clean water, if they can afford food, if they have shelter, if they are raped, etc… Multiply that by about 100x if they don’t have white skin.
“Conservatives” are almost as bad as MAGAts, and just as unreachable with reason, logic, and empathy. I don’t have a solution, I’m just pissed off. And I’m far from the most-harmed people will be the result of this greed, racism, apathy, and hate. Sorry…
This is why I wish those voters had held their nose for Kamala
