As I said in the other thread, Republicans could have waited a week or two, got their act together on the budget reconciliation bill and then reopened the government without a single democratic senator. Closing the government hurts democratic interests and the republicans reopening it without democratic votes doesn’t help democratic interests either.
We already have a party that is know for being stubborn, hurting it’s own constituents, and not getting anything in return besides it’s base praising how tough they look - we don’t need a second one.
Cool. As an opposition party you make them do that.
You don’t fucking work with the Nazi party, who is currently actively dismantling the government, because you are afraid your defense contractor constituents won’t be happy.
The democrats got literally nothing from the republicans. That’s absolutely not compromise, it’s just being an ashamed republican.
What you’re conveniently ignoring is that Republicans only have a handful of reconciliation bills. Democrats should have forced them to burn one.
And Democratic interests? The government being open isn’t going to stop Elon from gutting social spending. Forcing concessions that rein him in just might.
The government is already shutting down though, the point is to not give the executive branch a blank check to spend because they’re ignoring the courts. But I agree for different reasons that this move serves the party interests.

Like I said in another thread. The shut down is temporary, what they put in that bill is not.

This is just such a bone-headed take.
