You can just hear them use the “look how much we’re paying and it’s not working!” argument. They’re awful human beings.

Not a big shocker as our Democratic leaders did everything in their power to make M110 a failure and never distributed any of the funds to implement it while working with police to ensure that addiction became as visible and problematic as possible by refusing to enforce the laws against public drug use. Now they overturned the will of the people and are funneling all those hundreds of millions to police.

This is no different than all those red states who legalized marijuana and abortion and had their Republican leaders refuse to implement those laws. They’re two sides of the same coin. Both parties are working against the public’s interest.

Fuck it, the libertarians won: I want to stop paying my taxes. /s (I want better tax spending/I know it’s nuanced)

Hate to tell you, but Canada also has income tax. But at least our tax goes to useful services (most of the time).

Vancouver, Washington. Its at the very south of Washington state, just a few minutes drive from the Oregon border and Portland. It’s almost intentionally confusing.

Because Washington has no state income tax but does have a high sales tax and Oregon has no sales tax, but a high income tax, its a “no taxes” hack to live in Vancouver, then work and shop in Oregon. Its also a dick move, as you get to Oregon across these large, expensive bridges you pay literally $0 dollars to maintain.

You basically leech off two states resources while paying very little into their coffers.

If you work in Oregon, you’re paying Oregon income tax. The hack is to live and work in Vancouver while doing all your shopping in Oregon.

Ahh, that makes much more sense. Not the first time Vancouver, Washington has confused me!

The dick move is 10% income tax while the Oregon government frequently misuses the funds for personal gain.

Just an FYI. The max is 9.9% and most people don’t make enough. The real dick move is having a tax bracket that goes from 11k to 125k for single payer.

It’s only a hack in the sense that anyone can lie on their taxes and not to pay the use tax which is sales tax on out of state purchases used in Washington.

They’d probably only be able to catch you on large purchases like a car or boat where you have to register them.

It seems like you’d be spending more on gas / time value than you would by paying the sale taxes on small/medium purchases?

Depends on the size of the purchase. For example, I buy groceries in Vancouver but televisions in Portland.

Actually… WA and OR have a sneaky deal where if you buy it in Oregon and then try to register it in WA, you owe the taxes to WA anyway.

Kinda crap if you ask me.

It’s basically on the north side of the river that is the border between the states. Think 5min drive to enter the state, another 5-10min to Portland.
