People like Russell, Max, and Lando had daddies that bought them 20,000 hours of karting before they turned 10. I don’t get why we talk about them as being goats, as being natural talents. They’re literally the most manufactured talent you can buy. There’s nothing natural about how those kids came up.
But at the end of the day, all the rich / psycho dads tried, and only a few kids made it, so at least they’re sorta the best? The best of a shit crop but still the best.
My country produced such luminaries as Alex yoong, backed by lottery money. The govt of the time thought he was a marketable face and pushed him as a symbol of national achievement. The result? A three second gap in qualifying to a certain Alonso guy.
Plus, only one guy in recent memory literally bought a team so his son could have a go.
