Pelicot’s landmark case led to reforms in France’s rape laws after she bravely testified about enduring a decade of sexual abuse.
Gisele Pelicot, the French woman whose courage in publicly testifying about the decade-long sexual abuse she endured made her a symbol of women’s rights in France, has received the country’s highest civilian honor.
Pelicot was named a knight of the Legion of Honor in a list published Sunday, ahead of France’s Bastille Day celebrations.
She joins 588 others on this year’s list.
Ok that is ridiculous.
She got an award for being gang raped?
As fucking horrific that that is, and for her astounding bravery…
Well…
Eh, you know what.
I changed my mind mid rant.
Yeah she deserves it for having the spine to tell her story without a hint of victimhood because that shit was not on her, but the cockroaches that did it to her, she has nothing to be ashamed of.
Imagine all the people this happens to who don’t come forward out of the shame they’d face.
Woo, this was a wild ride of thoughts.
