Plenty of dogs I know would happily chase and harass a cat, so I’m inclined to think that it’s more likely that the dog deserved it than not…

      It’s a valuable lesson.

Dogs and cats communicate very differently. And cats sure as hell are not prey animals to be trifled with.

I’m pretty sure an eagle could best a cat in a fight, but they hold their own against many dogs.

Pound for pound, cats are way more dangerous in a fight than dogs. It’s just that cats are usually ~1/3 the weight of the dog that also lives in the house.

Which is also why they’re social animals. One cat isn’t a match for a bear. When ten cats are together the bear is rethinking its choices.

I’ve seen a lone cat take a black bear before but I think most toddlers could handle a black bear as long as it’s not a mother with children. One time on here I joked that high alcohol consumption for a few years is probably worse for you than a light mauling from a black bear and somebody got pissy enough to comment / report saying I was spreading misinformation and a) that’s clearly a joke but also b) tell me you didn’t grow up rural LOL because everybody knows if you see a black bear you can usually just puff up and yell at it. I’ve seen cats tree black bears.

Black bears are little scaredy babies generally. Of all the bears to meet, they’re the only ones I’d not be horrified to see!
