I don’t get how this guy still has support when his whole base was for releasing the files and he said he would. Now he’s going to pardon his accomplice?

This is the key. They have no principles whatsoever. My mom is one of them. She will sacrifice any previously held principle for “a win” (whatever the fuck that even means)
