What’s wrong with women running? Is it haram?

    It’s called exclusionary sexism. And men not being able to avoid sinful lust is just an excuse. The true purpose is to limit women’s social circles to male family members and other women. Isolate them in order to control them.

      In part, probably (like I said, there’s at least a tinge of misogyny in contemporary “Muslim culture”), but not in essence. The “sexism” goes both ways, and at least ideologically one way, since it’s the men that are seen as the disruptors of the peace, and the women as the object of temptation (inherently so obviously innocently as well).

        You see the same thing with most Male dominated institutions. Religions are some of the last holdouts excluding women from holding positions of power. Its easier to control people, when the one half controls the other half for you in the name of “culture”.

        It’s not just muslims, you see it in Christian nationalism, pro-life movements, Mormonism etc. Women always have their “role to play”, while the men have no such restrictions.
