I made a millennial joke in front of my coworkers after a two month break. (They have said waaaay worse). Anyway they HR’d me and I almost got a free vacation to the grippy sock hotel. Now I keep my mouth shut. They’ll never see it coming! Assholes.

The true forgotten generation. But Gen X are eating popcorn while the rest are having generation war.

Edit: lol at people who are downvoting and taking my comment seriously. It’s a jab at Gen X not being mentioned at all in mainstream discourse of generation fight amongst boomers, millenials and zoomers. I don’t know what nerves I have hit but I am owning it.

I used to think generational fighting is stupid, but the stats are undeniable, boomers own much of the wealth. Boomers are least likely to vote far right, but they are more likely to vote down affordable housing because they don’t want their property value to drop. That is an indirect support for the far right, because it leads to younger people being resentful and voting for populist far right who promise them the stars and blame the wrong types of people. This is a trend across the world. Generational and class conflict are one and the same in this case. Sorry to older folks of Lemmy, but older generations have become greedy.

I wish Gen X would shut the fuck up like you say they do. Reeks of desperate middle child every time.

Every generation thinks they invented dark and surreal humor and without fail people who should know better act likes its some new and unique thing… it’s more of an anomaly IMHO if a generation doesn’t do this.

Yeah but instead of joking about suicide like a normal person, boomers write confusingly veiled songs about it and pretend they’re family friendly.

Looking at you, David Bowie! Space Oddity isn’t for children!

Pretty sure their leading cause of death is suicide, just like the millennials. Although millennials are going to be getting old enough soon that heart problems will probably take over at some point.

More like the kids can’t tell old people apart. They’ve been binning Gen-X into the Boomer category. Old is Boomer to them.

I’m sure they would label some older Millennials as Boomers too. Especially since social media has distorted everyone’s perception of physical appearance. Even millennials are struggling with coming to grips with aging. Sorry guys but you are old.

Gen-X wasn’t forgotten. There’s the technical definition of generations. Then there’s the pop culture / meme definition of generations. In pop culture. Especially zoomer pop culture. There’s only Boomer, Millennial, and Zoomer. Which vaguely goes as old, 20-30 something, and teenager. Gen-X was “forgotten” into the Boomer category.

Hey, blame Kurt Cobain about why Gen X takes it too seriously. You also can’t joke with them about using too much heroin without a diatribe about Kate Moss and Anthony Kiedis
