Yeah, this is a complicated one. Based on the information we have I think the jury made the correct call here because the investigation was a mess and the prosecution just didn’t make a convincing case, but we should know what happened to this child, whether it was an accident or a crime, and we probably never will because he was born to a poor family and everyone he depended on, from his parents and caregivers through child welfare and the police and prosecutors, did a bad job looking out for him, because we just don’t make any kind of resources easily available to kids in poverty in this country. Ultimately what I can say for sure is this was a tragedy that could and should have been prevented.
