Donald Trump has hosted a fundraiser for his White House ballroom construction project as hundreds of thousands of federal workers go unpaid amid the ongoing government shutdown.

It’s been 15 days since Congress failed to pass a bill to keep federal agencies funded, slowing down or stopping government operations, as essential employees continue to go to work without pay.

But this dark period of partisan gridlock is not keeping the president from having a good time with those helping make his dreams of a glitzy ballroom come true.

No one cares because essential services are still operational, everyone believes it’s just a blip that will soon pass, and the country is being fed a steady diet of Confederate propaganda because they control nearly the entire media.

I’m of the opinion that we should just leave it shut down. No good was happening by having it open, and federal workers were being fired en masse anyway. If we can’t overthrow a fascist government, then at least we can cut off most of its ability to do harm. ICE agents aren’t being paid, so that’s a start.

When Social Security or Medicare workers start walking off the job and checks are delayed, people will start to complain. Not before.

Well, there’s probably going to be a lot of hungry poor people in November, but I’m sure any trouble starting will see them helping out those corporate farms. What are Medicare and social security recipients going to do? Die in protest?

I believe the air traffic controllers quitting en masse will, once again, be the lynchpin. But as you said, the conservative controlled media is working 24/7 to blame democrats and glaze over everything the republicans have done and are doing.

Yeah, ATC disrupting air travel further would also be a catalyst. They don’t even need to explicitly quit—just walk off the job.

Military, yes, but I didn’t really read anything in there concerning ICE or, more crucially, Social Security workers, Medicare workers, and ATC.

Also, shame on the BBC for propping up fascism by both sides-ing the impasse and not including even a single line about the reasons for the shutdown.

Both US political parties continue to blame each other for the shutdown

Have you seen what the British government has been doing lately?

They’re kind of down with the fascism. 😒
