Most people don’t know that there are short drop and long drop hangings. Long drops snap the neck instantly, and are considered humane. Short drops leave the victim, dangling, and slowly spinning and strangling.

At the end of WWII, after the Allies detained Nazi officers, but before Nuremberg, many were given quick military trials and some were hanged. The preferred method was short drop hangings.
