Bring the down votes: I find this price to be okay. What I’m buying, personally:
two games, not one
remastered games that look absolutely beautiful compared to their Wii versions
nostalgia coming up the wazoo dude, I’m loving playing these games again
being able to share this with my two kids who are loving these games as well, priceless IMO, sharing these moments together, them being proud of themselves for clearing the levels, me being proud of them for sticking it through
All that at $50/game, definitely worth it for me. (Actually in Sweden I paid $83 for the bundle so even cheaper. Very nice deal.)
I will happily give you a downvote only because you asked for it and you are basically justifying charging high prices for games that have not been truly added to or remastered other than higher resolution.
Also the game is US $59.99 at stores locally which to me is also overpriced for what you are getting. All Switch games are overpriced, but that still doesn’t justify it.
I think a good digital price point would be $10 or less for each of the games. Obviously a physical copy would need to add $5-10 for distribution.
It’s all relative. To me, these experiences I listed are worth that money to me. But I can understand that people without kids or perhaps means to but games don’t think it’s worth that much at all, especially if they are too young for the nostalgia. I think $100 is at the limit of what this should cost for me personally. Anything over is too much even for me.
If higher price points were truly affordable for most people I would agree with you. I don’t, because they are not.
I am of course okay with you paying whatever you want within reason. I am not okay with companies who are failing to innovate charging progressively more money because of a monopoly they have created.
I think it breaks and unspoken agreement between the parties around value. This is why I chose not to get a Switch 2. I sensed that Nintendo was doing yet another money grab without the development work they should have.
The lack of Switch 2 games really highlight this and it is very disappointing. I am hoping they can pull out of this greed induced slump and really spend a lot more on development of their IP.
I really do like Nintendo IP. I wish they would go to other platforms now though. If someone were to break up Nintendo (hint, hint) we would all experience a lot more of what we love.
I mean I agree with you on all points, it’s just that for this game bundle in particular, the value I’m getting personally is easily worth $83 or $50 or whatever it’s available for.
Normally I would never ever pay for a game more than $20 or so. But if it’s for my kids and I to create memories, the price limit goes up. 😬

I could see $29.99.
😛
