Remember covid, when hikers all went up the mountain to watch qualifying, then the police shut the path on race day?

That was fun.

This will be my first Austrian GP, what’s the track like and aside from Verstappen dominating what’s to expect?

It’s a rather short track, or what is called a “Mickey mouse track”. Lots of slow corners so plenty of possibilities for overtaking. Not heavy on the engine.

In theory, Red Bull should struggle a bit more than normal since their biggest strength is on long straights and fast corners, but they (especially Max) are so far ahead that I expect Max to win unless something technical happens, or an extremely unfortunate safety car or something like that.

But that doesn’t matter. There’s a really tight midfield behind that, I haven’t seen a dull race yet this season, just don’t focus on the leader when he is 10 seconds ahead.

We’re on the same page regarding Max’s dominance. I don’t think it’s a problem, in fact I look at it as we’re lucky to watch him. Especially after Monaco quali. That being said I only started watching late last year so everything is still exciting.

Yeah they (especially Perez) need that free practice time to dial in the car. Others are closer to peak pace on day one.

But even RB’s slower pace is still pretty much front of the field.
