Seriously if you want censorship resistance, please use one of the 100% free to use Tor nodes maintained by people like me

Not only does it cost you nothing, but us Tor node operators can’t doxx you or track you, the way any VPN can

But Tor is always slow as fuck for me.

Try using a different bridge, or not using a bridge.

Try switching circuits (Ctrl+Shift+L in Tor Browser)

Also note that Tor is not designed for anything realtime or streaming. Those use-cases break its anonymity model. Do not use for voice, video, realtime games

Maybe it’s a silly question, but would using a VPN, like Mullvad, in conjunction with TOR make it even more secure, or is that just redundant?

In most cases using a VPN with Tor makes you less secure.

Any threat model covered by VPN+Tor is like a million times better covered by simply using Tor Bridges and no VPN

Back on Reddit /r/tor this was such a common question that someone made a whole subreddit just so “/r/torwitthvpn” could be replied as a FAQ

Here’s a privacy-preserving link to the subrreddit post. It’s good info, worth the read
