I’ve not heard that term since PE in High School.
Fosbury Flop’s “trick” is that while the traditional saddle technique required athletes to exert enough strength to put their centre of mass above the bar, in Fosbury Flop, the centre of mass at the apogee can be below the bar, inside the arch formed by the athletes back. It was quite a genius leap forward for the sport (pun intended and I’m not sorry).
If it looks stupid and it works, it’s not stupid.
I can eat by smashing my face into a plate of macaroni and just keep it there and chew. It works. Yet is stupid. QED.
