As part of the fallout over the Saturday shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, Donald Trump held a two-hour Monday night meeting with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, her de facto chief of staff Corey Lewandowski and other key members of his administration.
According to MS NOW’s Jonathan Lemire, who was not invited was as notable as who participated.
With the White House reeling and the Department of Homeland Security facing heightened scrutiny after two killings of innocent bystanders in less than three weeks, the president is reportedly “recalibrating” how his administration is managing its anti-immigrant roundups and media strategy.
According to the New York Times, “The meeting came after Ms. Noem requested to see the president, the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a private meeting.”
Invited to hear Noem and Lewandowski was White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, press secretary Karoline Leavitt and Steven Cheung, Trump’s communications director.
With the future direction of DHS being under discussion, Lemire raised an eyebrow that Stephen Miller, the architect of Trump’s immigration purge, was excluded.
Addressing the Trump ICE turmoil, Lemire told the “Morning Joe” panel, “We saw [Border Patrol Commander Gregory] Bovino being moved out — The Atlantic is reporting that even he’s soon to retire. And then we had Secretary Noem and Corey Lewandowski in this meeting at the White House yesterday — Stephen Miller, not part of it, interestingly enough.”
“And we’re told that their job is safe for now, but it’s very clear there’s at least a little bit of a de-escalation from Minnesota as the president and his team see poll numbers and realize this is not going well for them,” he added.

So - the person paid to pay attention while Trump takes naps, and two people running the White House spin machine. Meaning that absolutely nothing is going to change except their PR.
Don’t be so pessimistic! They might introduce some new characters for season 2. Or should we consider year 2 of this term just part 2/ (?) for season 2 of Trump? Or should we consider the entire Trump presidency as part of the larger Oligarchy in America series? I guess it depends on if you include the entire mythology starting from day 1 of Reagan? Or if you just acknowledge that’s actually just part of Oligarchy the Next Generation, and you’re including it within the larger contexts of the civil war and the declaration of Independence being signed by slave holders? Or this land already being inhabited by natives when Europeans first arrive here?
Idk maybe I’m being greedy, but it would be nice if we could just give real democracy a chance.
At least for shits and giggles, before we tear down all the things that wealthy Oligarchs have been fighting us on since signing their names to a piece of paper claiming they believed in the values of a country built by all the marginalized people they exploited and continue to exploit to maintain their status in the heirarchy they created.
Maybe we could just try actually putting control of those values in the hands of the people, but like for real this time? I know some people think the hypocrisy of the signers of the declaration make extracting democracy from their hypocrisy impossible, but we’ve never actually tried just putting people in power who are actually willing to call the rigged system out for being rigged. We’ve never tried it because the people rigging the system in their favor have convinced us that calling it a rigged system would be “unpatriotic.”
Maybe they’re right and we’re actually the ones who need them to control our world for us. But if we’re never even allowed the freedom to just acknowledge reality, and demand accountability for the people who manipulate and exploit the public for “our own good,” and definitely not because they’re so fucking terrified of the consequences of a society actually allowing all of it’s people equal footing, how can we really know it’s the fault of democracy? How do we know it’s not just the result of oligarchy masquerading itself as a democracy overly obsessed with nationalism to prove everything it does, including maintaining that heirarchy, is so unselfishly patriotic and for the greater good we aren’t allowed to even question it without being accused of terrorism?
At this rate I wouldn’t be surprised if the next character has horns and wears a cape.
Pretty sure he’s been the director and executive producer of every season, but he’s probably made a few cameos
