I think you answered your own question. To expect them to do anything other than what will increase their wealth is naïve. Anything that seemed like a “moral” thing that they did in the past simply happened to be more convenient.

Yeah, I suppose so. It just sucks that it seems like every single company is run by a monster.
Because companies have a legal responsibility to increase value to shareholders; morals don’t enter into it.
Only people who are okay with being monsters are allowed to take and keep those roles. That’s capitalism, baby.
