… so he tried to have the pope bribe him. Classy.
Does he know about Trumps Taco Bell Peace prize?
The ONLY countries participating in the Board of
PeaceFascists are either other fascists or Trump’s cock suckers.Has any country bought in?
El Salvador,
Israel,
Argentina,
Hungary,
AzerbaijanAnd similar countries, you get the pattern.
I actually respect this pope quite a bit. He’s been doing a good job.
Francis was good as well. These are the first good popes in, well maybe forever I am no expert but not familiar with any popes that were good before. They aren’t seemingly able to do anything big with it yet sadly. The catholic church in the US is mostly owned by the religious right still. Betraying Christ’s mission on earth.
Opposition to the genocide in Palestinian and the treatment of immigrants in the United States that has the potential to turn into a genocide is massively influential considering the churches reach and the powerful corrupt forces at play here
It is massively influential, it does not seem to be taking precedence over the massively influential right wing forces controlling most of American Catholicism leadership anyway. I say right wing, that is really kind of labeling it. This right and left is meaningless when we aren’t measuring from a real place in reality. They are in service to malign interests, some of the most wealthy interests in the country.
Unfollow Christian evangelicals believe in Zionism because they believe that it will bring the end times
Evangelicals are like 30% of the Republican base as well. And I guess that is not even counting like Baptists and other related ones. I’m not sure if Calvinists count as Evangelical. But yes, their worldview is so fucked, they want bad shit to happen, especially in the Middle East in israel, to bring on the rapture which will end the world in lakes of blood and Fire.
I’m not really religious but come from a southern Methodist and Catholic background on the two sides and from what I understand these evangelicals have 0 chance of ascending to heaven because not only do they fully and completely reject the teachings of Jesus they rabidly support a man who very closely resembles the Antichrist in their own book
But I think that what we’re really dealing with here is religious extremism and fundamentalism is bad in any form and destructive as hell when mixed with settler colonialist ideology
It’s always fascinating to me to think that the popes most likely do not believe that anything in their religion is actually true, and are only playing along with it because they either want the power associated, or in the case of this one seemingly, think that it’s an effective way of wrangling the opinions of the idiot masses. It really must be a very interesting mentality they have.
If you read up on Pope Leo’s life, you see that he most definitely was not in it for luxuries and power.
I am no fan of the church as an institution, particularly for what it’s done in the past both on grand scales of violence as well as institutional coverups of abuse, but I know that a massive segment of our world does still look to the church for moral guidance and does not feel aligned with the abuses of the past. I know a lot of people don’t relate to that but it’s kind of wired into our human condition at this point to seek out higher power to align with, so we can’t just dismiss everyone who looks to the church as idiots, nor those running the church as scammers or grifters.
I don’t know if in his heart of heart someone like Pope Leo really believes the literal truth behind what he’s taught and upheld in poverty stricken regions and while trying to bring communities together, it’s probably more nuanced than that, but I don’t think you sacrifice so much in your life unless you think there’s SOME level of higher-calling or greater reward for preserving some kind of faith. I can’t really relate, I have no faith, but I don’t look down on those who do have faith. I mean, the universe is absurd, I can’t judge one kind of absurdity over another, I just don’t have use for emotional appeasement about fear of death.
One of in not the best people morally speaking I’ve ever met is pretty religious. I’ve not gotten into detailed discussion with her about the nuances of it because I have no faith and I don’t really want to fuck with whatever she has going on because like I said she is a wonderful human being but she points her religion as the source of her values. I’ve never seen her act with malice or dishonesty towards anyone, even people being ignorant to her where it would have been completely justified. She also doesn’t preach or expect anyone else to follow her beliefs either which is nice.
I think there’s plenty of people who participate in churches (of any flavor) without necessarily buying in to the spiritual aspects. The social aspect of churches provides people with all sorts of benefits.
This guy has devoted his life to the church, with an infinitesimally small chance of rising high enough for it to be “an effective way of wrangling the opinions of the idiot masses” so it seems unlikely that he doesn’t believe any of it.
Probably hurts his ego a little extra since this is the first US-born pope, too
Did… Did he just try to shake the pope down?
Dude is trying to speedrun his way to super hell.
Trump will go to only “the best hell”.
I think the “hell for rich people” is actually the worst hell.
You know, if any hell was real besides the living hell of late-stage capitalism…
I don’t think Trump is catholic. The stoke will have to do.
I would say he’s the antichrist but surely he’s too dumb for that? Peter Thiel is generally considered to be the anti christ, he’s basically encouraging the association I think he likes it even. The president is like the devil’s guy that keeps embarrassing him, can’t get anything right.
He shook every country leader down. The pope is one of those.
A lot of people forget that the Vatican is a sovereign nation.
Honestly it feels like everything these chucklefucks do is a troll. The “
BoredBoard of Peace” for a group established with the pretty obvious intention of using the largest military on the planet to shake down non-members.Or “POPE SAYS NOPE” as it would say on a tabloid.
I bet I would read a lot more articles if they stopped trying to cram the whole article into the headline and instead indulged in some alliterative whimsy every once in a while.
The opposite would be a clickbait. maybe something like: “You wont believe what the Pope said to Trump”. Which is trash.
Good on dunking that mobster meat puppet trying to turn Gaza into Atlantic City 2.0.
