Do they want to conquer the world? They want back territory that was part of China in the past and they have broad ideas about “protecting” themselves, but I’ve never heard that they’re expansionist.
While I’m not convinced they’re going to try to conquer the world per se, the entirety of the belt and road initiative is about spreading their influence and putting countries in their debt.
