    Honestly, zero. I’ve always said first drunk driving offense should be immediate, permanent revocation of license. First offense. Zero tolerance.

    It’s bad enough to deal with regular mistakes and texters. DUI offenses are treated so casually it’s actually a meme.

    Maybe after a very strict re-training. And signing something acknowledging EXTREME consequences if they get caught again.

    And none of this pleading out stuff, either. Even if they’re just sleeping drunk in the driver seat in a parking lot. No mercy.

      Extreme penalties like that cause other problems. We should be focusing on rehabilitation, not revenge.

      We should also focus on making life less car dependent.

      In a LOT of areas, a vehicle is the only way to have a decent job. If you take that away for a single infraction, you’re dooming a lot of people to a low standard of living.
