I have dreamed of such gadgets when I was a nerd-kiddo. Now I’m a nerd-adulto for decades and grew too cynical and weep at all those great innovative gadgets with this one being the epitome of “fuck you and your privacy!”.

Go fuck yourself big tech. Dry.

    Dear EU, please ban them.

I didn’t even consider that they could be used to steal login data, and if timed well - 2FA TOTP codes.

Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard

    Zuck: Just ask.

Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS

[Redacted Friend’s Name]: What? How’d you manage that one?

    Zuck: People just submitted it.

    Zuck: I don’t know why.

    Zuck: They “trust me”

    Zuck: Dumb fucks

I have something like that for Android phones. As I’m regularly in places where people can’t record anything ever, I run this on my phone when I am there. I better not detect these fucking pieces of garbage

The workers are labeling objects in the recordings, lamps, TVs, etc., to train AI.

I wrote a short sci fi story once, with something similar. A child has virtual friends in AR that are supposed to be fully AI and private–installed on a local machine with no outside connection. The machines are AI, but do have hidden connection to workers overseas who monitor a few kids at a time and intervene when the AI “gets confused”. Things don’t go well.

I don’t really care about stupid people recording themselves in bathrooms and changing rooms. The problem is they also record everyone else. I think the only thing we can do is to be vigilant and outspoken. Don’t engage in conversations with anyone wearing those or use any electronic devices near them. If you see someone entering public bathroom wearing those call the police. Check your local laws about recording in other public places and complain when someone is breaking them.
