I am certainly sure that they would have used other dangerous chemical as liquid chlorine or any other toxic gasses if only these haven’t had drawbacks such as uncomfortable spread.
i bet they used something zyklon B, or nerve gas or similar and it never hits the news. remember it was heavily used against iran in the 70s by saddam.
