A U.S. submarine used a torpedo to sink and Iranian ship in the Indian Ocean Tuesday, the first such attack since WWII , the Pentagon said.

A U.S. Navy fast-attack submarine on Tuesday sank an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean using a single torpedo, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters Wednesday, saying this was the first time since World War II that an American submarine has sunk an enemy vessel.

      Well, there ARE torpedoes that pretend to be a ship in order to trick ships and other torpedoes to go for them, instead of the submarine that fired it.

      But yeah “specifically” designed to sink ships sounds weird when that’s what most of them, with only few exceptions, do.
