This led to Japanese internment camps inside the United States, which I would argue Is internal oppression. Martial law is not part of the insurrection act. That is a different thing, with similar talking points.
Declaring martial law or using anything in the insurrection act to take over the local governments would not be marketed as oppression. And if no one says oppression, then it can’t be oppression (According to the government).
I think that if Donald Trump is willing to bypass Congress to go to war, he’s willing to break any rule in the book. The rules no longer apply and the only reason he hasn’t tried to take over local governments is because no one is standing up to him yet. He gets away with everything. He may be a few cards short of a full deck, but he’s not dumb. He knows if you don’t have a problem, don’t make one. The United States citizens are not a problem for him.
