You’re insane or profoundly ignorant if you think both sides are basically the same at this point.

They aren’t the same, but there’s is not enough variation. Other democratic countries have multiple choices. My own country has 7 parties in its legislature. There are 2 major parties, but the smallers ones end up having a lot of weight also. European democracies often have executives formed by coalitions of multiple parties, often headed by one the major ones.

American politics makes it so there’s a huge risk in helping the adversary if you pick one the third parties. If you are closer to Democrats but align more with a third party and vote for them and that causes neither of the candidates to gain a majority, there are no possibilities for a third party to support a Democrat government. The Supreme Court gets to pick the government, regardless of the opinion of the majority. That is ridiculous but unfortunately it is by design to keep it all under two establishment parties. It pressures the voters to vote only for the two “approved”. I prefer Democrats by far, but this isn’t a fair democracy.

In normal democracies no government can be formed without the support of the majority of the legislature. Even Presidential elections between 2 candidates have to go through a first round first, with the 2 most voted candidates progressing to the final round.

In the US it is all made to stop any third party from growing and keep it all between the usual suspects. And the results are in sight, a radical Republican party whose place is almost impossible to be taken by a moderate conservative party. Or a stagnant Democratic party unable to be succeeded by something more progressive.

It’s privilege, if both parties are genuinely the same to you then you’re in no position to be lecturing to people for whom the difference can literally be life and death.

Dems openly support gays and gave healthcare to a lot more poor people. I think you’re looking in the mirror.

no both hate gays and poors, its that dems don’t voice such bigotries while passing anti-homeless laws and anti-gay laws
