Hi all!
I’ve noticed that quite a few posts have been taken down recently which I understand can definitely be annoying!
This is due to Rule 2, as follows: No support questions/rants/bug reports: All posts should benefit the community rather than the individual. Please refrain from posting individual support questions, rants, or bug reports.
For support questions, please post them to !askandroid@lemdro.id.
Thanks for your understanding :)
Why isn’t that rule relaxed until an Android App community is robust enough.
I agree. It’s a good rule for a larger community, but I think being enforced so early will only harm growth. And yes, I know growth is not necessarily the main goal - but we surely want enough initial growth to hit that critical mass that sustains a reasonable level of activity?
We’ve been more lenient on content with some general applicability but are also seeing a lot of very device-specific technical support questions posted. These specific question posts can end up with little activity and drown out other content. It can be very hard to course correct once a community becomes associated with tech support, partly because it leads folks who aren’t interested in it to unsubscribe.
Directing folks to !askandroid also means being able to offer more specific guidance in the sidebar, like suggesting submitters provide more info about their situation or device.
