100%. We got one of those AI camera bird feeders, and it mixes them up even though it knows where it physically is. There is very little overlap in range, but I’m sure climate change is changing that also.
When you think about it, the idea of Pokémon saying their own name isn’t actually that unrealistic: a lot of animals are named after the sound they make. Peewees, warblers, howler monkeys, kookaburras, hummingbirds, and I believe the ancient Egyptian word for “cat” is “mau”.
