MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (Reuters) - Donald Trump didn’t just want to win in New Hampshire, he wanted to beat Nikki Haley so badly that his sole rival for the Republican presidential nomination would drop out before the next competitive contest in South Carolina a month away.

The former president easily bested the former South Carolina governor on Tuesday, but his carefully crafted strategy to drive Haley out of the race fell short, denying Trump the chance, for now, to focus all his attention on Democratic U.S. President Joe Biden and the November general election.

Trump, 77, was full of fury after Haley, 52, vowed in a Tuesday night speech to fight on, just two days after the other leading Republican contender, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, ended his campaign.

This is precisely what I was hoping for. He’s going to divert his attention to Haley now and America is going to spend the next month watching Trump unleash his full gutter ugliness on a woman who had the temerity not to completely kiss his ass. It’ll yield a commercial-clip bonanza.

I hope he works himself up to an aneurism, and karks it in the middle of one of his hate-rally’s.

Or maybe has a stroke and turns into a vegetable.

      Or gets hit by lightning.

Can you imagine if half his face quit working? His goons have been trained over the years to see things like that as a sign of weakness. Look at how he’s depicted on his NFT trading cards, if he had a stroke and started slurring his speech and half his face started to sag they would eat him alive right then and there.
He deserves much worse, but that kind of fall from grace in his party would be a good start.

Lol nah… They’d sooner look for ways to paralyze half of their own face (it’ll have to be the right side, because that’s the side that froze on Trump, and it means blah blah blah) so they can be like their hero.

He may already be a carrot. Maybe the dye we see is for his hair, to de-green it, as opposed to the oranger we think he uses.

There is definitely some kind of satanic deal going on keeping him alive and lucid.

Hey that doctor back in 201whatever said he was pretty much an expert on telling the difference between a camera and a person.

And he had the brilliance to see the connection between bleach killing viruses on surfaces and that our lungs are basically a surface. If his followers had started snorting bleach instead of just drinking it, he would have solved the pandemic that the Democrats made up to make him look bad.

Just wait and see how lucidly he beats Obama and his running mate Hillary and her running mate Pelosi!

I REALLY hope Haley gets the nod.

Largely because there’s no way republicans will band together enough to elect a woman to the executive.

If Haley gets the party nod, I have little doubt Trump will splinter and run as independent/third party (MAGA party?). Along with that split Trump will burn down the Republican party by claiming fixed voting in primaries and unfaithful party leaders.

A number of MAGA reps in Congress will likely switch to this new party expecting their momentum to get them re-elected, but they’ll discover the Republican money isn’t behind them. McCarthy, famously the leader of GOP fundraising, will work to starve MAGA congressmen/congresswomen of money and back their GOP opponents enacting his revenge against this wing for kicking him out of the Speakership.

If Haley gets the nod it’ll be because Trump is disqualified. I don’t see any other way that it happens.

If somehow she wins it all, how fucked will we be? I know nothing about her. I’m a gay woman with health issues that require birth control as a treatment, so I am very concerned about my rights and healthcare.

She’s trump lite, but I think she might actually respect democracy.

I’m queer myself, so I understand some of your fears, but from what I know I’d take Haley over Trump. But we’re really choosing between eating a turd sandwich, or eating a turd without the bread.

Trump is likely more dangerous because he has nothing to lose. Others can at least believe that there’s a line that they shouldn’t cross if they want to come out of it ahead.

We’d be pretty fucked. She may have more of a chance in a general election against Biden as there are a lot of conservatives who won’t vote for Trump again, but also refuse to vote for Biden (or let’s be real, any Democrat).

Her views aren’t much different than Trump’s, she just doesn’t say the quiet part out loud. Just in the past week she said that she would support a national ban on abortion as just one example.

Let’s not undersell the circuits it would blow in some Democrat brains. Too bad Republicans can’t bring themselves to nominate a woman - that would make the election really interesting.

It’s the only way Trump’s loss won’t be so sudden as to cause massive violence.

I kinda think Haley could beat Biden if the MAGA doesn’t poison her. But I’d like a race between two people who understand it’s possible to lose. I don’t understand how anti-democratic “patriots” have become.

He was hoping to secure the nomination before SCOTUS hears if he’s even allowed to primary. Not that I think that decision will actually go the way it should in a sane world, but it’s one more thing he’s got to worry about.

Plus Trump’s legal defense is propped up by campaign money. I wonder if she’s betting on him giving up enough states to keep from going to prison.

If either of them knew what was good for them, they would band together as running mates. Luckily, I don’t think either of them do.
