I play a little bit of the harmonica. It’s gotten out of tune a little bit over the years and no places near me will repair it.
But what I’m really proud of is the set of ceramic bowls I’ve collected over the years to make what is called Jal tarang. Water needs to be filled in them to specified levels and struck with wooden sticks to make a musical note. Tuning it is an exercise of its own but I love playing it when I can find the time. Sounds really nice.
Here is a virtuoso of the instrument playing a song:
That this too, shall pass.
I have a tin box full of very old nibs which still look pristine. I bought them on impulse at a flea market dirt cheap. I have no idea what to do with them.
I stand corrected. The satellite data from remote sensing satellites downloaded at Antarctica downlink stations are sent back to other countries by geostationary satellite links.
My point is that Antarctica is well connected by fiber. Am I mistaken?
While this is indeed a noble cause, i wonder if internet being slow in Antarctica is real. A large number of data recieving stations for polar satellites are stationed in Antarctica and they send data to other continents through high speed fiber lines which are also used for internet.
I remember seeing him (or someone claiming to be him) here on lemmy after the big migration from the-place-we-don’t-talk-about. Someone was not impressed by him and told that to his face, politely. Never noticed him around since.
Not only can you create your own maps using QGIS, it also has plugins that lets you create webapps out of them that anyone in your network can access, without coding.
Have you been able to make voice search/input work in your setup? If so, how?
You want us to prod you on, don’t you?
I got a cool looking salt shaker that looks like a crow and is made of buffalo horn. I’m fine with it sitting on my shelf but don’t see myself using it for its intended purpose on my dining table.
What is the typical power requirement on these devices? Can it be used to set up IoT sensor nodes in the wild where they work off solar, or do they need periodic tuning/care?

Crazy cool!
TIL about Tepache. Over the years I’ve made it a ritual to make ginger beer when the weather is favorable in my corner of the world and I look forward to it all the time. Could you help me with an easy to follow recipe? Does it work well with semi ripe pineapples cuz those are more easily found where I am? Is it possible to ferment this when humidity is on the higher side and the temperature is as high as mid 30s Celsius?
I need to pick this up in my new job role but find it really boring. I am good with creative writing and have a good vocabulary but I just can’t seem to be able to make myself write the formal text. Any pointers for me?
Can we see some of your creations?
I read a lot of good things about LXC and how it was better for such things when I was starting my selfhosting journey an year or so ago. Immich was my need of the hour but I could not find any tutorials to get it done back then and now I know why. Being good and being accessible for noobs are two different things.
Yes it has a scale changer. I love playing it when I can but I will admit I could never do justice to what it is capable of.
