- You are doing exactly what the OP was talking about, looking down on something harmless; 2) “Degenerate/degeneracy” are literal Nazi words and you should probably stop using them
I am 30 or 40 years old and I do not need this.

A slightly more positive way of putting this is “choosing the set of problems you want to deal with.” I vastly prefer the problems that Linux hands me over the problems with Windows.

Her first name. I think I’m “Firstname Lastname” in her phone but my name is more common than hers.

You can also rub your tongue on your soft palate to stop a sneeze but it tickles

You are the first person I have ever met (other than my mom, who I learned it from) who does the “sleep upside down” thing. It totally works!

I worked in a grocery store deli that made sandwiches, and we’d precut meat “kits” for the popular sandwiches to save time during the lunch rush (like Cuban, Italian, etc). We’d slice them for whole sub sandwiches, and then if someone ordered a half sub, we’d just cut the kits in half and put the other half back in the drawer.
One day, a girl I’ll call “Becky” was working the sandwich counter, and someone ordered a whole Italian sub. There were no whole Italian kits in the drawer, but there were two presliced halves.
It took like three people to explain to Becky how to solve this problem, and even then I’m not sure she ever fully understood.
I live in the general vicinity of Waverly Hills Sanatarium, if that counts. Also one of my friends said she saw a ghost in this old apartment building I used to live in.

Honestly, if you’re mostly using Steam for gaming, pretty much any major distro will work. Linux Mint is my personal choice for newbies but if something else strikes your fancy, go for it. I second the recommendation for checking on ProtonDB to see if your games are supported. I would also recommend ProtonUp-Qt as a program once you’ve installed Linux; it’s really good for managing different Proton installs on Steam quickly and easily. Also also, I have personally had better luck with the Flatpak version of Steam, rather than the native distro versions, because it has less weird dependency issues, but YMMV. Good luck!

Are we sure that the lifespan thing isn’t just benefits fraud

Same. I’ve been using KISS for years. It would feel weird to use anything else at this point.

Nah, there was actual effort put into TempleOS.

Fitness Adventure Pro for the Switch. Is it an amazing game? No. But it is a fitness game, which means I can get a workout without any equipment to set up and break down, and without having to leave my house. I’ve only been using it a few weeks and I can already feel a difference.

The “tastes worse from a press” is entirely dependent on the material of the press you’re using. Garlic reacts with stainless steel, hence those stainless steel “soap bars” they make to remove garlic smell from your hands. I got a zinc press for this exact reason.

I don’t know, but apparently people had some way of managing.

the tribe will leave me behind on the next migration when I’m too old and weak to keep up.
FWIW, this part is almost certainly not true.

These are just a handful of these types of stories, there’s loads more if you want to search for them. But the upshot is: your family or tribe would have taken care of you to the best of their ability, for as long as they could, and you would have been given a decent burial when you died.

Your best bet might be to try and pivot to in-person college/university if possible. You didn’t say where you are in the world, but in the US, most schools will have on-campus housing you’d be able to stay in for most of the year. The financial part is always the limiting factor of course, but considering how violent your brother can get, it may be worth it. It’s a lot easier to recover from student loan debt than being dead.

Which version?

Really surprised no one’s mentioned Everclear, but that might just be because no one thinks about Everclear that much

The odds of these two deeply weird incidents being isolated in a case like this is about 1%
You’re probably right
