if used for work…Features? Don’t care.
Most organizations care about maintaining document compatibility, especially formatting, and that usually means Office365. Microsoft is notorious for publishing a standard and then ignoring their own standard, making it exceedingly difficult to use other office suites.
I’ve heard OnlyOffice does the best at maintaining compatibility.
if they can’t do what the board needs… They aren’t a good fit either
But does the board need it, or just want it to maximize profits, like boards usually do in their typical chase of infinite growth that isn’t sustainable?
And if the person won’t stick up for what they think is best for the company and the people (which they’ve deemed firing 50 people is that), maybe they’re not a good fit that way. But hey, they are sticking up for said company and 50 people, so maybe they are.
if they draft it’s because cannon fodder is needed.
That’s a big if, as you noted US hasn’t drafted in forever. But even if they did draft, the US hasn’t used “cannon fodder” tactics for several decades. Their technology is so advanced (and military budget/spending so high) they don’t need to in order to win. Trench warfare ain’t really a thing anymore.
At least you’ll be alive instead of cannon fodder
I don’t think the military is dying at a noticeable rate, especially as “cannon fodder.” A quick Google says deaths by hostile action hasn’t broken the triple digits annually over the last decade. I also didn’t really look at the other deaths, so feel free to dive into that side.

That’s the joke.
I’m hoping for a Pixel Tablet 2 with this (Pixel Tablet doesn’t have it, but the Pixel 8 does for some reason) and MTE security capability, and I’ll transition to that with GrapheneOS over a laptop.
I haven’t tested it personally, but I think GrapheneOS (easily the best Android OS for Pixels, in my opinion) has had it for Pixel 8s since the end of October 2023. Here’s a quick guide I saw: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/9775-pixel-8-desktop-mode-guide-and-personal-experience
Yeah billy should be build IUDs not 3d printed guns
I see the /s but…The Ukraine war videos don’t show how to build IEDs, though. And even if they did, who would the parents sue? Ukraine, a nation at war? As opposed to 3D printed guns show you how to make them, and you could try to sue the gun company who it belongs to. And YouTube in both cases.
we didn’t do a good job transitioning from religious to secular values in that way.
A lot of religions were founded on and/or expanded by violence (Pilgrims to America, Knights Templar, Spanish Inquisition, etc), so I don’t remotely think “religious to secular” is the reason.
To be fair, the Aiel didn’t initially grow up there (and too short for evolution, in my non-scientific brain), but rather migrated there to use it as “a shaping stone to make them, a testing ground to prove their worth, and a punishment for their sin.” And it would be too easy on those three reasons if they were perfectly (or mostly) acclimated and suited for the desert genetically.
A cool quote…but fictional and not applicable in the real world. Has “both sides are the same so I’m not gonna vote” energy, which let’s the greater evil win. Kudos for maintaining neutrality and helping screw everyone over.
When a power imbalance that vast is concerned consent doesn’t exist.
At the time, sure. However, over a decade after the fact:
Maintaining that her affair with Clinton was one between two consenting adults…
So if the power imbalance was why she consented, you’d think she’d set the record straight and say she was pressured or forced into it despite saying yes at the time. But she didn’t. Ergo, she consented and your argument is invalid.
Just did a super quick glance, but are you really considering QKSMS maintained?
So is bullshitting. More so, only human minds can bullshit.
And a bull’s anus.
This chud uploaded potentially sensitive information to a public service.
A bill draft, which eventually/maybe gets signed and is public by its very nature is sensitive?
People really need education on how to intelligently use these services.
Agreed on principle, but I don’t see how what he did was wrong…other than calling ChatGPT a subject matter expert.
Is there a Lemmy community like R4R? If there is, I can’t find one.
Just did a search, and there are 3 with none active.
Unfortunately the fact that NFC can’t be used on anything that’s rooted anymore is kind of a deal breaker.
NFC can be used on GOS, and they frown on rooting.
If I could use google pay and my normal banking apps with GrapheneOS I would switch to it today.
It’s due to PlayIntegrity API wanting a “Google certified OS,” which is ironically less secure than hardware attestation that GOS supports. I doubt Google would change their model, but your bank might. Some banks do support GOS, and they have changed at the request of their customers before. Send them the GOS documentation and you might get lucky.
https://grapheneos.org/articles/attestation-compatibility-guide
We need hardware requirements so that not just pixel phones can get grapheneOS.
GOS has strict hardware requirements to increase security that currently only Pixels meet. They won’t, and shouldn’t, compromise their standards which would give you a weaker OS. Want GOS on other vendors? Convince those vendors to up their hardware game.
I know that’s the point, which is why I said it. The person I replied to asked if they were missing something, so I was attempting to educate them on said point. Then they edited their post to add the /s after the fact.
They’ve taken everything subjective and unspoken about human interaction and reduced it to explicit, objective numbers. I’ve never felt so alive.
