WhatsApp is more problematic to leave though. Where I live, it’s the default messaging app everyone uses. I haven’t texted anyone in ages. And I can also see why it’s the default, WhatsApp is just better than the competition. It’s end-to-end encrypted, so Meta cannot read your messages directly, it has good markdown-like formatting support, it’s has a lot of features, and it’s relatively stable.

I’ve been using Telegram and Signal with friends, but honestly Telegram doesn’t exactly feel safer to me, especially with e2e encryption not enabled by default (last time I checked). And Signal is better, but sometimes just a pain to use. No Markdown-like syntax (though formatting is finally possible via GUI), it constantly keeps desyncing devices that I use once every few weeks, and we’ve had plenty of bugs with not seeing messages of eachother.

Now, I can accept that to a degree, in return for better privacy. But no way in hell are laypeople like my family going to switch. WhatsApp is too good and safe enough to remain dominant.

How so? Most of these memes seem to be just She-Ra images with some funny text. Does OP personally know you? Or do the images/text somehow refer to you in some way?

You can’t expect the world to accommodate for everything you struggle with. These memes are doing nothing unreasonable to the average person, people seem to be enjoying them. If you are getting triggered this badly by something so benign then you’re going to have to solve it yourself. If we would block every meme that triggers somebody on the world, I’m afraid there wouldn’t be many left.

Also Rocket League. I’ve got like 2K hours and managed to get to Grand Champion (1) once, but usually hang around in Champ 2 or 3. In a way I just play like a very consistent Diamond player though. I can semi-reliably wavedash, sometimes manage to hit a half flip, and can’t do any flip resets, musty flicks, etc. I solely rely on positioning, shooting at the right time, fast aerials, bumping, and boost stealing.

During my master’s degree we had a course where we had to make a small app or data collection thingy using the Mastodon api (or something, can’t fully remember). So I was aware it existed, and contemplated joining at a few points. Ultimately though, I just don’t really vibe with Twitter-like social media. After Reddit did the thing, I saw Lemmy, which suits me way better. I like it so far. I’m donating a small amount of money to help with keeping the instance running, and I hope this remains a cool place to be for many years to come.

It’s impressive how McLaren managed to rise. The battle behind Max is heating up yet again. I felt like Lando’s talent was being wasted with the previous car, so it’s good to see that he’s up to his usual shenanigans again now. Also cool to see Piastri being right up there with Norris. Het had a lot of hype around him, and so far that seems to have been for the right reasons. I would be very surprised if McLaren would stay at this level consistently, but I’d be very satisfied to see them in the mix with Ferrari, Mercedes, and Aston, depending on the track.

Not too surprised that Nyck is under pressure tbh. Alpha Tauri picking up Nyck was already a bit of a surprise for me, since they have quite some talent at the ready. His Monza race was amazing, but I think people extrapolated a bit too much from that one race.

As a Dutchman I do hope that Nyck manages to turn this around though. Having two Dutch drivers in F1 is very cool

Not my experience. I’ve had multiple old games and an old printer that just straight up didn’t work under Windows. On Linux however (using wine for the windows exe’s) it usually does run. Sometimes it does require some googling, but there’s usually someone who tried it before.

Maybe I could’ve phrased that better, since I’ve indeed only seen 1 or 2 of those and most of them don’t go that far. The rest were “only” defending countries like China, which still isn’t exactly great.

Sometimes there’s also the line that goes down at the start of the sprint, because the team still had to finish some dumb busywork to complete a story from the previous sprint.

Weird meme this one. I’m 100% against tankies, or at least the type of communist here who seems hellbent on defending regimes like the Chinese communist party or (especially weird) Putin’s Russia. Yeah I did the same with Jerboa a few days ago. I keep clicking it, and it’s actually building the “good” habit of using Lemmy instead of reddit. There’s less content here though, but maybe that’s a blessing in disguise. Filling the “mindless scrolling of the internet” time with something useful should be my actual goal. So having less stuff to browse might help with that.
