  • You say it’s a non-representative performance for Biden but that’s not really true. Biden has not been doing many interviews. He does prescripted events where he can use a teleprompter.

You have to go back to Regan to get fewer press conferences. He even skipped the traditional superbowl interview that is a notorious softball.

This all suggests that his team knows he can’t handle an interview and are avoiding it. If they thought he could handle it with his polling they would have him doing them all the time.

After the debate performance he needs to do something to show he can string some thoughts together in a coherent way. I think this Fridays interview is a desperate last shot to do that.

  • Partially. Inverters providing virtual inertia is good but has the problem of still being active and reactive. It helps and is cheaper and more efficient than flywheels.

Flywheels and turbines however provide a very sticky frequency. They help out a lot with stability and give inverters time to respond.

Think balancing a stick on your hand vs anchoring it in clay.

If we take enough turbines off line we are still probably going to need some mechanical power stabilization no matter how inefficient.

But yeah I think we are going to see a blend using as much electrical and as little mechanical as possible.

  • An alternative is we are among the first. Third generation stars are the ones that have planets with enough heavy elements to allow for complex chemistry. Sol (our star) is thought to be among the first batch of third generation stars in our gallexy.

Light speed does seem to be the upper speed limit for the universe. Talking that into account we probably haven’t had a chance to see other early life as it would likely be spread pretty thin right now.
