Better yet, let them enjoy the full connectivity for a month. Once they’ve enjoyed all the awesome content and got used to it - defederate.

Originally (more than a decennia ago) because it had better customizability, later because it was less memory hungry.

Same here, love the honeycomb layout and the double tap feature to “hide” less used, but still necessary apps (single tap goes to Waze, double tap opens Google Maps. Another tap gives me Youtube, double tap opens Youtube Kids to occasionally placate the 3yo)
