I have an internet buddy who is a professional sound guy engineer for concerts. As in the guy that does wave form captures for analytical analysis and tells Taylor Swift “hold your microphone here or else you will sound stupid” kind of guy. He also jokes that he puts packing tape over guitar knobs to “keep these idiots from imma crank it up to 11”.
Anyways, I asked him about playing to backing tracks and sent him a shitty clip. He said it sounded fine, but told me to remember how all these videos/clips have gone through massive amounts of sound manipulation. He told me “you don’t sound bad, you sound live”. Made me feel a little better, and you likely sound the same so don’t worry about it.

I do the same with my guitar. Have a bunch of little songs and riffs, save them all on my PC. No one will ever hear them or hear me play guitar, just do it as a creative outlet for myself.
