I strongly recommend the UK focus on the US as a trading partner. It is obviously more sensible to ship your imports and exports to and from a market some 5000 km away, than to the market just 50 km away. Clearly your population will love fruits being either 2 weeks old at least or flown in. That fits the english taste best anyways.
I wonder if China and Russia think they are at the point that the global power balance has shifted so much away from the US and Europe, that they dont need to care anymore, as this would harm the EU more than China.

What you say is true, but so is an ageing population.
An ageing population does result in more demand and less workers.
You realize that it takes money and workers to upkeep, repair, rebuild plants? Staying with nuclear costs money that instead is better invested in renewables. And you realize that maintaining that share against newly build renewables requires new plants right?
You understand that 20% of 100 are 20 and 20% of 200 are 40 right? Like when you look at the charts, you see that the total production capacity doubled, because of the exponential growth of renewables. So it would need new plants to maintain the share.
So unless the plants you demanded were already in planning in 1990, there is no way they would have been there in 2010. Seriously, with how bad at math and physics the proponents of nuclear power are it is all the more important to keep them away from such a dangerous technology.

If you look at the total values in your source, you’ll see nuclear to decline since 2006. And from 2021-2023 then the full phase out happened. But the only plants that hypothetically could have ran a bit longer were only left to produce 2%.
To revert now, Germany first would need to invest billions to modernize the plants, which would take years to scale back into it. Also it would likely need to buy their fuel rods from Russia, defeating the whole purpose of sanctioning Russian Oil and Gas.
Note that the 2011 plan was the reversal of the 2009 extension plan, that was a reactionary reversal of the 2002 plan to phase out nuclear power until 2022. So the issue was the reactionary “lets make more nuclear! Oh shit, a nuclear plant blew up, lets track back on our backtrack” move by the CDU/FDP coalition of the time. Incidently the parties that also now are also crying to want back nuclear.
As someone from Germany, i strongly advise against moving to Germany. You get shit services, massive racism and shit weather. If you decide to come nonetheless, prepare to deal with no cell-phone coverage as you go by train or car across the country. Also the Trains are notoriously late and the highways are crumbling. It only takes some triple digit billions to catch up with the deficit in infrastructure investment.
Prepare to wait for up to a year for specialist doctors appointments. That is if the doctors you tried to visit didn’t all turn you down, because they are either overbooked or said that you look fine and southerners are just always dramatic.
And if you look like you could be from the Middle East, so if you are Spanish, Italian, from the Balkans, Latin America or any other place where people aren’t pale as fuck, prepare to be insulted, threatened and sometimes violently attacked in the streets.

Biden and Harris want the annihilation of Palestine. They could put an end to it now. Everyone who claims that the parties have any sliver of difference in regards to their actions on Israels genocide was proven wrong once again. Trump just speaks the quiet part out loud. But this was the most clear “red-line” It was specifically measured, none of this “its not a large invasion of Rafah, only a small one” bullshit. The US made an explicit demand. It was not even remotely reached.
This was yet another insulting move against the muslim, black and other minority communities in the US by the Democrats. it said “we believe you are this stupid to fall for it.”
Guess what, the people said “we are tired of your genocidal bullshit”.
62·3 days agoIf you tell people now that Democracy is dead, they don’t bother fighting the real fight, if and when push comes to shove.
Dems said this election is the end of Democracy, but still put an uninspiring right candidate. They said Trump is the fascist danger to all the US stands for. But having him and his crownies dismantled by getting criminal charges on them seemed to go too far. When grassroots movements came up and demanded change instead of embracing them, taking them seriously and talking with them properly, they were shunned and pushed down.
Now the greatest danger to corporate America are people to start organizing and taking to the streets. So hammer down the defeatist message, so the people suck up to their corporate overlords. The corporate overlords who won yet another election as both candidates represented their class interests.
For this one Prof. Goldmann from an initiative to criticise this resolution has made the perfect observation imo. In a small press conference he notes, that this new resolution does not mention the most obvious antisemitic attack in Germany of the past years. A Neonazis attempting to storm a Synagogue and commit a massacre in Halle. Instead it explicitly mentions this movie at the Berlinale festival, which is the least clear case of Antisemitism (or what is alleged to be such).

Yeah if only the Democrats had went more right. That would have saved things this time around. Also thanks to Biden talking about “moving together” and “healing” in 2020 the Republicans deradicalized…
